Google Business Profile Services: Name the Work You Offer

3 minute read · Practical marketing guidance

A business’s work list can mix a main service, tasks included within it and work the team does not accept. Before turning that list into Google Business Profile entries, decide which items are actually offered on their own.

For a Las Vegas or Henderson business, this starts with approved service facts. Naming every task separately can imply an offer the business never intended to make.

Separate offered work from included tasks

Read the work list with the person who accepts jobs. Which item describes what a customer can request? Which item only happens inside another accepted job? Keep that distinction when shortening the wording.

A broad label can also expand the apparent offer. “Kitchen renovation” may imply more than cabinet refacing. Use the name that matches the approved work rather than the largest category of work customers might imagine.

Our service-page guide covers the longer explanation of inclusions, exclusions and quote preparation. Settle those facts before compressing them into an entry.

Use the available editor without changing the offer

Google’s services guidance makes editor availability conditional. Where available, it offers suggested services and custom entries. Compare suggestions with the approved work; use a custom entry for a missing service rather than accepting an inaccurate suggestion.

Descriptions and prices can be added as details. Keep prices, phone numbers and personal information out of custom service names.

Google’s category guidance treats categories differently: choose from Google’s list, and do not select one for every service. A custom service name is not a custom business category.

Turn one fictional work list into an entry

The Las Vegas cabinet-refacing company, offer and wording below are wholly fictional. No actual Profile, editor suggestions or category options have been inspected.

Before — approved work notes: The company refaces selected existing kitchen cabinets after reviewing condition and scope. It replaces handles only within accepted refacing jobs. It does not take standalone handle-installation jobs or install new cabinets.

After — one proposed entry:

Name: Kitchen cabinet refacing

Description: Refacing for selected existing kitchen cabinets. Cabinet condition and scope are reviewed before work is agreed. Handle replacement is available only within an accepted refacing job.

The name identifies the main work. The description preserves the hardware condition, so a reader is not invited to request handle installation alone. New-cabinet installation stays out of the service list because this fictional company does not offer it.

This is proposed owner wording, not a claim that Google provides that exact suggested label. The person reviewing the available editor still needs to compare its options with the offer. No price, submission or acceptance is claimed.

Review the meaning before handing it over

Ask the service owner to read the finished entry as someone requesting only new handles. Would the condition be clear? Then read it as someone seeking new cabinets. Does the wording stay within refacing rather than implying that broader job?

For other business-information fields, our seven-check Profile guide covers the wider review.
