QR Code Print Proofs: Check the Code and the Destination

3 minute read · Practical marketing guidance

Before printing a marketing QR code, approve both the destination and the physical proof. A brochure can carry the correct address while its printed code still needs checking. A code can also open a page that does not answer the invitation beside it.

For a Las Vegas or Henderson business, keep those decisions separate. Start after the destination is agreed, and identify who will review the final artwork and who will check the printed sample.

Check the address carried by the final artwork

Compare the address encoded in the final candidate code with the approved destination. Testing a separately copied website address leaves that comparison unfinished. Open the route offered by the code and read the arrival page against the printed invitation.

Apple’s QR scanning instructions distinguish holding the code in view from tapping its link to open the content. Recognition alone does not finish the destination review.

If campaign labels are part of the approved address, use our outbound UTM link guide for their separate naming and measurement questions. Keep this print review focused on the exact approved route.

Review a physical proof at its intended size

DENSO WAVE’s code-area guidance specifies a clear margin of four modules on every side of a regular QR Code. A module is one square unit of the symbol. Keep nearby text and artwork outside that margin; it is not a fixed millimeter measurement.

Its module-size guidance explains that printer characteristics and reader capability matter. Larger modules take more space and can be easier to read. The document’s equipment examples do not establish a universal minimum size for a brochure or window card.

Ask for an actual-size proof of the final layout on the intended material. Check that printed sample with the intended reader and record the conditions and outcome. A screen preview leaves the physical proof pending.

Plan one wholly fictional brochure

The Henderson upholstery business, information session, brochure, page and approvals below are entirely invented. No QR code has been generated, and no page, phone or print sample has been tested.

Imagine a brochure inviting people to read what an upholstery information session covers. Its fictional page explains the session topic and how to inquire. The approved destination is https://example.com/upholstery-session/, an illustrative placeholder rather than a claimed working page.

The proposed printed label is Read upholstery information-session details. A readable alternative address beside it is example.com/upholstery-session/. Include that address in the artwork review and check its typed route separately.

Destination approval: Pending comparison of the final code’s address, opened destination and session explanation.

Physical-proof approval: Pending review of the actual printed sample. The correct proposed address does not close this second approval.

Keep the two approvals with the print handoff

Identify the artwork version and reviewer beside each result. Describe failures precisely, assign the correction and repeat the affected check. Leave an unperformed review pending instead of recording the whole brochure as approved.

Printed materials may remain in circulation. If the destination later moves, our page URL-change guide covers preserving and checking the old route.

Rank.Vegas web design services can include destination and visitor-path review within agreed website work. Email sales@rank.vegas with your public destination URL, intended brochure task and the question you want reviewed. Print production and physical-proof responsibilities require separate agreement.
