Google Ads Search Partners: Compare Reports Before Deciding

4 minute read · Practical marketing guidance

Should your Las Vegas or Henderson business keep Google Ads Search partners enabled? First identify the decision you are making. A concern about where the business appears needs different evidence from a concern about whether inquiries fit the service.

A campaign total can conceal those distinctions. Review network activity, placement information and business records according to the question each can answer. This guide explains a review approach; no actual advertiser account or partner results have been inspected.

Separate the network before interpreting the total

Search partners can show ads on search results, directory pages, product detail pages and YouTube search or watch pages. Their presentation can differ from Google Search. Google’s Search Network overview describes these surfaces. The network’s name alone does not establish whether it suits your business.

For an existing Search campaign, request a comparison using Network (with search partners). Google’s table segmentation guidance documents this distinction between Google Search, Search partners and Display Network. Available segments depend on the table, and incompatible combinations can leave metrics blank.

Use the same campaign, period and understood measurement definitions. Record the report and selected columns so someone else can reproduce the comparison. Comparable boundaries help interpretation, but the networks can still have different traffic mixes. A difference between rows does not prove what caused it.

Read placements as evidence of appearance

Google’s dedicated Search Partner Network placement reporting documentation describes site names and impressions for Search, Shopping and App campaigns. It locates the report in Report editor, under When and where ads showed → Content suitability.

Despite its “full” label, the report has inclusion conditions. A site appears if, during the selected period, it has at least five impressions OR more than zero clicks OR more than zero video views OR more than zero conversions. Do not assume every placement impression is listed.

The documented output does not provide qualified jobs by site. Use it to examine appearance against an approved business suitability policy. An unfamiliar site name alone establishes neither poor inquiry quality nor fraud.

Match the evidence to the decision

These are complementary observations, not three obligatory approval gates. A suitability concern can support a business policy decision even when inquiry attribution is unavailable. Missing attribution limits conclusions about network-specific inquiry quality.

Three evidence types for a Search partner review
EvidenceDecision it can inform—and its limit
Network comparison for one campaign and periodSeparates aggregate activity. It does not identify the network behind an individual received request or establish a causal effect.
Partner placement names and impressionsSupports review against the business’s appearance policy. Impressions alone cannot rank sites by suitable inquiries or completed work.
Business requests with independently supported network attributionSupports service-fit review for those records. Unassigned requests remain separate; attributed work does not prove additional work caused by the network.

Before comparing reported conversions, use the existing conversion definition review to clarify what the measured action means. Keep received requests and verified fit in your marketing inquiry log. Do not assign unknown requests to a network in proportion to its clicks.

A wholly fictional review with an unresolved source

Imagine an invented Henderson piano-tuning business. Its campaign, records, policies and observations here are entirely fictional. Its owner asks whether partner traffic brings tuning requests for homes the business serves.

The hypothetical network comparison shows partner activity. The business has suitable received requests, but their source notes say only “Google.” No independent evidence identifies their network. The owner cannot credit those requests to partners or conclude that partners produced unsuitable inquiries.

The next step is to ask the measurement owner what attribution evidence actually exists. Separately, a placement can be reviewed against the fictional business’s approved appearance policy. That policy decision need not wait for a source assignment; it answers a different question.

Write a conclusion with its boundary

Use this short statement: For [campaign and period], [evidence] supports [specific conclusion]. [Unknown] prevents [stronger claim]. [Owner] will verify [gap] before the network decision.

Preserve the observations and reason for the decision. If a later comparison follows several campaign or business changes, document them rather than attributing the difference entirely to network eligibility.

A measurement review can be discussed within an agreed digital advertising scope. Email sales@rank.vegas with your website, advertised service and the report question you want clarified. Access, work and deliverables are agreed in scope.
